Could America be the Next Rome or Greece?
The year was 1984, the world was filled with tension as America and the Soviet Union flexes their muscles for power. The United States believes in democracy while the Soviets believe the power is in Communism. The U.S. has already been through 2 wars on Communism and neither had a good ending. Many people believe in Korea we tied and Vietnam we lost. Not because of our soldiers but because of the leadership, this is when war became political. Now here we are on the verge again. Somehow in the dark of night Soviet planes passed through the radar and early defense warning system of the American west coast. Just as millions of people began their day of work and school Soviet parachutes dropped from the sky. As the parachutes gently dropped the Soviet soldiers to the ground there were simultaneous attacks at American bases, both from the air and sabotage. As curious American left their homes, offices, and classrooms to view the odd site, they were gunned down in cold blood. Soviet officers gathered up and killed political officials, school teachers, and anyone within the community they believed to be a threat. While the war on American soil lasted months eventually the American people were able to arm themselves and mount an offensive. The American people finally won their war against Communism.
Nobody expected this same scenario would play out again 30 years later. However this time it was not the Soviet Union. After the Soviets failed attack in 1984 the Soviet Union fell to pieces, not only did American win the war but it defeated the strongest Communist country in the world. Now, 30 years later China was now the strong hold of Communism. America owed China nearly $2 trillion and with the resent actions of the American political system, China decided it was time to collect. With the assistance of America’s greatest enemies Islamic terrorist cells already in America simultaneously attacked military bases, railroads, and subways. As the attacks were occurring and the American people were looking the other way, China launched a land invasion. Within months America was now the modern day Rome and Greece, all once great empires that came crashing down. Unlike 30 years prior, Americans could arm themselves and fight back, in the year 2014, there were very few guns in the hands of legal American citizens. There were no gun stores, no place to get ammunition, no place was safe. Only law enforcement, military and criminals had guns. China was here to collect their debt and what better way to get your money back than by defeating the strongest country in the free world? America was no longer, it was now a Communist state under rule of China.
Yes the first paragraph does sound familiar; for the most part it is taken from the 1984 movie, “Red Dawn” starring Patrick Swayze and Charlie Sheen. The second paragraph, well let’s leave that open yet. Granted it may not happen in 2014 but who is to say what could and could not happen. When our founding fathers built the American Constitution and Bill of Rights I don’t believe they could have foreseen where America would be in the year 2013. Honestly, how could they? If you would have asked me 20 years ago if we would have phones that take pictures, take videos, and have the internet I am sure myself and many others would have laughed. Well, guess what, most of us have them and can’t live without them today. I think it’s safe to say the founding fathers never thought of this. I am also sure it’s safe to say that when our founding fathers wrote the Second Amendment they had no idea where America would be in 2013. The purpose of the Second Amendment was to ensure that the American people could defend America, our homeland. Many people will argue that it says “militia” that means army, well you are kind of right. Let us take a look at the meaning.
The term militia or irregular army is commonly used today to refer to a military force composed of ordinary citizens to provide defense, emergency law enforcement, or paramilitary service, in times of emergency without being paid a regular salary or committed to a fixed term of service. Legal and historical meanings of militia include: Defense activity or service, to protect a community, its territory, property, and laws. The entire able-bodied population of a community, town, county, or state, available to be called to arms.
This was pretty much the same meaning of militia back when our founding fathers wrote this important amendment. Now let’s take a look at the Second Amendment.
“A well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”
When I read this I see the words, WE THE PEOPLE. We the people are the militia that stands as the last arm of defense on American soil. We the people no matter our backgrounds, no matter our history, no matter our differences; we the people always come together when needed. Whether it was the terrorist attacks of 9/11 or super storm Sandy, America came together. When the Second Amendment falls there is nothing left to secure and protect the remaining Bill of Rights and the Constitution?
The argument of gun-control goes beyond crime, granted criminal will still get guns and crime rates will be at levels never seen before in our country. Many politicians look at it from the angle of job security. With the people not having the power to stand up and physically fight back the government will have the power to do as it wishes with no dumb citizens getting in the way. The people fighting to take our gun rights don’t even know the difference between an assault weapon and a semi-automatic weapon. When you go into a fight you must do so with equal fire power or as close to equal as possible. Many in the American government want to take our guns away an allow us to fight with rocks. Meanwhile, these are the same people that will still have armed security escorting them everywhere providing protection.
The first step to saving America start with the Second Amendment, protect it and America will remain free. Without it all I can say is, Rest in Peace America, Rest in Peace.
